DAWN ATTWOOD
Dawn Attwood is a founding member of Attwood Corlett LLC with over 25 years of experience in complex civil litigation, specializing in public entity defense, insurance defense and coverage, and employment litigation. She has successfully represented numerous State authorities and departments, county prosecutor’s offices, municipalities, boards of education, insurance carriers, commercial insureds, and private clients in both trial and appellate courts. Dawn is known for her landmark victories, including a recent case in the New Jersey Supreme Court. She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and New York.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Dawn Attwood’s legal career spans over two decades of handling high-stakes litigation for public entities, private insurance carriers, joint insurance groups and private institutions and individuals. Her practice areas include general and commercial litigation, public entity law, insurance defense and coverage, employment law and appellate practice. She is especially proficient in handling civil rights and employment actions, along with product liability, construction, dram shop, premises liability, automotive liability, environmental, general liability and coverage matters. Dawn’s extensive trial and appellate experience has earned her a reputation for delivering successful outcomes in challenging cases.
Dawn’s notable victories include obtaining jury and bench verdicts, as well as summary judgments, in complex litigations and winning high-profile appeals before appellate courts and the New Jersey Supreme Court. She has been recognized for her expertise in handling novel and significant legal issues across state and federal courts.
Before co-founding Attwood Corlett LLC, Dawn was a partner at a mid-sized, regional law firm, serving as co-chair of the Insurance Law Practice Group, and previously also a partner at a mid-sized, New Jersey law firm. Prior to that, she worked as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of New Jersey for over five years, where she defended the State in tort, contractual and employment litigation matters and tried numerous cases involving the New Jersey Tort Claims Act, New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, Federal Employer’s Liability Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
